As you know we are going through the Book of Genesis, but every now and then I think it is wise to take a break and make sure we don’t lose sight of the big picture… why are we here today? What is the purpose of the church?
I think that the purpose of the church is stated well on the cover of your bulletin: Welcome in the Name of the Lord Jesus Christ. This church opens wide her doors and offers welcome to all who sin and need a Savior… to all who are spiritually weak and need rest… to all who mourn and long for comfort… to all who struggle and desire victory… to all who are strangers and want fellowship… to all who believe the church is a hospital for sinners instead of a showcase for saints… to all who hunger and thirst after righteousness, and to whomsoever will… welcome.
The church is a rescue mission, and at her core is the doctrine of salvation. Read the rest of this entry »
