Chapters 12, 13, and 14 form a whole unit. In chapter 12 the Holy Spirit taught us about the spiritual gifts God has given to the local church. In chapter 13 the Holy Spirit taught us about the supremacy of love, and how faith, hope, and love far surpass the temporary nature of spiritual gifts. In chapter 14 we will see the Holy Spirit goes to great lengths to put structure and order into how the gift of tongues is to be used because at the time of Paul’s writing this gift was being greatly abused.
